The Springs Resort
Resort · Pagosa Springs
The Springs Resort & Spa is a large riverside hot springs resort in the middle of Pagosa Springs, beside the San Juan River. Every pool is fed by a single source, the Mother Spring, which the resort says is more than 1,000 feet deep and calls the world's deepest geothermal hot spring. The water is sulfur-rich enough to tarnish silver jewelry.
The site describes 47 geothermal pools and says temperatures range from 45°F to 114°F. The 25 original pools, with names like Blue Lagoon, Lobster Pot and The Plunge, are open to general admission, and five adults-only pools sit on the Relaxation Terrace. A newer set of about 23 Wellness pools, plus a halotherapy sauna and mud studio, needs a higher-priced Wellness pass.
General admission is $74 for adults and $42 for children 3 to 12, with $3 off for seniors and $5 off for military and first responders. Residents within 60 miles can buy a cheaper local pass in person. You can walk up and buy a pass at the Bathhouse without reserving, and there is no time limit. Towels, robes, lockers and cabanas are available to rent, and swimsuits are sold if you forgot yours. Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Pool toys are only permitted in the shallow Blue Lagoon swimming pool.
You can also stay overnight in the resort's rooms and suites, with 24-hour soaking included.
